My Unpopular Opinion: Adnan Syed Guilty or Innocent?

The murder of Hae Min Lee in 1999 has globally caught the attention of about 130 million people. The reason for all the attention is because of a well-produced podcast called Serial. Throughout the entire course of the podcast, the host of the show, Sarah Koenig, reveals the story of Hae Min Lee’s murder and the person that was charged and sentenced with her murder, was her ex-boyfriend, Adnan Syed.

Adnan Syed was convicted of this murder in February 2000. The main eyewitness in his trial was Jay Wilds, which the state based their case off of his incredibly believable story involving the murder of Lee. Even though there is evidence as to why Adnan Syed is guilty, but there is more credible evidence as to why he is innocent, like, the autopsy of Hae Min Lees body, Asia McClain’s alibi witness, and the lack of physical evidence.

Some may say it is crazy to consider Adnan Innocent when all the arrows are pointed at him but there are so many hints and evidence as to why he can be innocent and just a very unlucky guy that happened to be at the wrong places at the wrong time. I say he is innocent simply because there is no strong evidence to say he murdered Hae Min. There is Jay's vivid story that seemed to be believable but he's story lead to many loopholes that lead to evidence that can't be back up. An example of a loophole would be that there was no sort of linkage between Hea Min's body and Adnan; proven by the results of the autopsy, but Jay said that he was shown her dead body in a trunk by Adnan. There is several more evidence that could lead me to believe that Adnan is innocent or a brilliant murder.

there meet up in the library
the same day that Hae Min was murdered.

Asia McClain, a high school classmate of Syed and now an alibi, is one of the evidence that leads me to believe that he was innocent. She said that she was in the library with Syed after school during the time prosecutors said he had murdered Hae Min Lee at 2:36pm. Asia McClain wrote Syed two letters about their time that day, reminding him of it. She plays a major role in Adnan's case because she is the only one that could account for Adnan being present with her when Hae was killed.
Here is a brief Interview of Asia speaking on the case of Adnan Syed.

This case is a very sensitive one now because globally there are so many individuals tunning into the story that it is now a priority to find Hae Min's murder if it is not Adnan. There is an HBO documentary called "The Case Against Adnan Syed"  that is lead by the family and friends of Adnan to discover if he is innocent of his crimes or guilty.

Overall my opinion is the Adnan is innocent and his trial sh
ould most definitely be re-opened and properly investigated.
